We must save this important piece of history

The historic Old Post Hospital of Fort Olgethorpe began construction in 1904 and was completed in 1905. It was a vital part of the Fort Oglethorpe, which opertated from 1905 to 1946 and is the namesake of the city of Fort Oglethorpe. Today, this landmark stands as a rare witness to our military and community history. Fort Oglethorpe helped pioneer Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) concepts and trench-warfare medical techniques. Then-Captain Dwight D. Eisenhower served at the post as an instructor in 1917. It is impossible to overstate the importance of this historic building to our local, regional, and national military history.

Catoosa County currently owns this historic building and is considering allowing it to be demolished. We need support from the community to let our leaders know how much we care about it.
